PyPI Repository Malware Infects Windows Systems

Security researchers have identified 116 malware packages in the Python Package Index (PyPI) that have affected Linux and Windows systems, having been downloaded 10,000 times since May 2023. These malicious codes were inserted into Python packages via test.py, __init__.py or PowerShell files embedded in setup.py files and were designed to steal cryptocurrency, extract sensitive user data and create system backdoors for remote control by threat actors.
