Chameleon Trojan Malware Detected Disable Biometric Unlock Steal Passwords ThreatFabric Security Researchers
A new ‘Chameleon Trojan’ malware variant can disable biometric authentication methods like fingerprint and face unlock, and disable phone PIN, while remaining invisible to Google Protect alerts and device security software. The malware uses official Android apps such as Google Chrome to operate undetected, compromising sensitive financial information, hijacking access to devices, and making unauthorized transactions. Cybersecurity firm ThreatFabric recommends avoiding unofficial Android app sources, conducting regular security scans, and keeping Google Play Protect consistently enabled to safeguard against the Chameleon Trojan.
