Cybersecurity experts from NCC Group have warned that old banking malware Carbanak is being used by hackers for ransomware attacks. Used by ransomware gangs to infiltrate financial systems, Carbanak is now being hosted on compromised websites, disguised as business software. According to the research, ransomware attacks have risen from 341 to 442 incidents in a month, reaching 4,276 so far this year, exceeding the combined total for 2021 and 2022.
