A hidden Android malware called ‘Xamalicious’ has infected around 338,300 devices, mainly in the US, Germany, Spain, the UK, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, via infected apps on Google Play. Security firm McAfee discovered 14 tainted apps, including Essential Horoscope, 3D Skin Editor for PE Minecraft, and Logo Maker Pro, each with 100k downloads. Despite their removal, users who installed them since mid-2020 may still have active malware. Unofficial app stores also distribute twelve malware-carrying apps.
