UK prime minister: Ransomware attack is global
No evidence that patient data was breached has been found after the ransomware attack on the UK’s National Health Service, according to the organisation, which estimated there were tens of thousands of attacks on Friday. Hospitals, from London to the north of the country, were affected after an international cyber attack that began on Friday morning. Computer systems were locked and ransom demands made. The malware involved in infecting computers is thought to have spread because hospitals and the affected organisations did not apply a Microsoft patch or were using outdated systems.
