New malware restores cookies to break into your Google Account
A severe malware vulnerability linked to Google Chrome could potentially allow hackers to access Google accounts, even after passwords are changed. Cybersecurity firms BleepingComputer, CloudSEK and Hudson Rock reported that the malware targets login tokens stored in Chrome, creating persistent Google cookies which enable account authentication. The vulnerability remains even after a password reset, and some groups have reportedly updated their exploitation methods to bypass Google’s recent countermeasures.
