Most sophisticated iPhone malware attack ever seen detailed in Kaspersky’s ‘Operation Triangulation’ report

Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has unveiled its investigation of a sophisticated iOS malware attack. First reported in mid-2023, the malware has compromised devices since 2019 and targets iOS versions up to 16.2. Exploiting four zero-day vulnerabilities, the malware gains root level access and installs spyware. Russia’s FSB alleges the malware is the work of the American NSA and Apple. The malware is allegedly updated for newer iPhone models and iOS versions, and can be eradicated by rebooting and software updates. Kaspersky will share more details after reverse-engineering is complete.
