NHS cyber attack far more extensive than thought, says report

siteadmin October 26, 2017

Last year’s cyber attack on the UK’s NHS was much worse than initially reported, with 595 GP practices affected and 19,000 appointments cancelled, according to the National Audit Office (NAO). All of the NHS trusts had their cyber security measures checked before the attack and all failed. The health department had been warned about the threat of cyber attacks 12 months before the incident, but only published a formal response two months after the attack. The NAO stated that the NHS has yet to calculate the cost of the attack.
