NHS Digital’s WannaCry response was “let down” by poor communications
The NHS’s handling of the WannaCry cyber attack was described as a “let down” in terms of communications with healthcare organisations, according to Chris Flynn, NHS Digital’s security operations lead. Speaking to delegates at a UK Health Show conference, Flynn admitted it had taken four hours to send advice to healthcare staff which “wrongly” created “a vacuum of information for a few hours” and made it “a bit like operating in a void” during the attack.
