MOVEit Attack Highlights Security Principles For Healthcare CIOs

U.S. healthcare organizations were hit by around 1,410 cyberattacks weekly in 2021, according to a report by the Identity Theft Resource Center. Healthcare organizations remained the top target for data breaches for 3 consecutive years. The vulnerabilities in systems such as MOVEit have led to the exposure of sensitive data. Experts advise organizations to adopt strategies like data encryption, proactive monitoring, third-party system monitoring, a “patch and break” philosophy, and incident response retainers to mitigate these risks.
