ONC info blocking disincentives are ‘excessive,’ says AHA

The American Hospital Association (AHA) expressed concern over a proposed federal rule penalising information blocking under the 20th Century CURES Act. The AHA claimed the rule’s financial impact had been underestimated, particularly for economically fragile hospitals. It also expressed reservations over arbitrary processes in determining infringements. The AHA suggested existing enforcement practices should be used and urged CMS and ONC to verify calculations and be transparent in the specific formula used.
