HIMSS23: Mitigating Risk for Healthcare in an Increasingly Connected Environment

UNC Health’s Dee Young has called for a “paradigm shift” in security collaboration, due to the tens of thousands of connected devices in the health system. She promoted using Software Bills of Materials to assess device vulnerabilities and supported IT-led biomedical teams for device patching. She called for interdepartmental collaboration to identify and manage risks. Other healthcare speakers advocated for a zero-trust approach to security and the importance of understanding network device functions.
