FBI dismantles Qakbot malware targeting hospitals

The FBI has used a new technique to sever ties between thousands of computers and the Qakbot botnet that enables ransomware groups to carry out attacks. The action disrupted one of the longest-running cybercriminal botnets and seized millions in cryptocurrency, totalling $8.6 million in extorted funds. This follows the disruption of the Hive ransomware group earlier this year. The FBI pledges to continue to disrupt the ability of cybercriminal organisations to carry out attacks.
