A new variant of the malware known as Bandook remote access trojan (RAT) is targeting Windows users through phishing attacks. The malware, active since 2007, spreads via PDF files containing a shortened URL that downloads a malicious, password-protected file. Once opened, the malware infects the victim’s computer with a payload, giving attackers control over the device.
