Linux devices are under attack by a never-before-seen worm

A previously unknown Mirai-based cryptocurrency mining malware dubbed NoaBot has been compromising Linux devices for the past year. Rather than delivering distributed denial-of-service attacks, it targets weak SSH connection passwords to further its own network and install mining software. Created by security researchers at Akamai, the software conceals its inner workings by storing its wallet configurations in encrypted form.
