Hackers Using Weaponized PDF Files to Deliver Qakbot Malware

Qakbot, a banking trojan and malware that targets financial institutions, is back after the “Duck Hunt” bust. This malware steals sensitive login details and financial data. Microsoft has also discovered small-scale phishing attacks targeting the hospitality sector. K7 Security Labs believes an email surge is expected due to Qakbot’s history. The malware is effectively delivered through weaponized PDF files, exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities and potentially causing compliance issues.
