MSIX App Installer Disabled Amid Microsoft Malware Attacks
Microsoft has announced the disabling of the MSIX App Installer by default amid ongoing malware attacks. The proactive measure aims to prevent the exploitation of the Windows AppX Installer spoofing vulnerability, identified as CVE-2021-43890. Threat actors have previously used the protocol for distributing ransomware through crafted packages. Microsoft has urged users to update to the latest App Installer version to ensure protection from this and other evolving cyber threats.
