Hospitals and Medical Device Manufacturers Must Work Together on Cybersecurity

The increasing use of cyber-connected medical devices has led to new vulnerabilities in patient privacy and hospital cyber security. As the number of medical devices connected to the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is predicted to increase, there is a greater need for cybersecurity risk management, with manufacturers and healthcare providers sharing the responsibility. The use of strong cybersecurity practices in contracts and a greater focus on sustainability over the device’s lifecycle can mitigate some risk, with FDA regulations providing further oversight.
