Hundreds of organizations, including GlaxoSmithKline and Imperial College London, have committed “high risk” breaches of patient data sharing agreements in the past seven years, with no penalties issued, according to an investigation by The BMJ. NHS Digital has the power to suspend data provision and report breaches to the Information Commissioner’s Office but instead works with organizations to rectify issues.
