Coronavirus: German contact-tracing app takes different path to NHS

Germany’s contact-tracing app will alert users only if they test positive for Covid-19, differing from the method implemented by the NHS’s app, which uses self-diagnosis via an online questionnaire. Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel believes the decentralised approach will encourage greater user acceptance. It was also reported Google and Apple will soon release their app, being used by Germany, while the NHS intends to offer users a centralised method unless plans are unexpectedly prevented.
