ICO sets out revised approach to public sector enforcement

The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has announced a revised approach to working with public authorities, aiming to reduce the impact of fines on the public sector and engage more effectively. The approach will involve increased use of the ICO’s wider powers, with fines only issued in truly serious cases. In addition, the ICO will work more closely with the public sector to encourage compliance with data protection law.
