NHS vendor Advanced won’t say if patient data was stolen during ransomware attack

IT service provider Advanced confirmed data was stolen from UK’s National Health Service (NHS) during an August ransomware attack, caused by the malware LockBit 3.0. Though Advanced won’t confirm if patient data was compromised, it mentioned the data breach likely has a “low” chance of harm. The cyberattack disrupted NHS services, leading some trusts to revert to pen and paper. Recovery will likely be slow, due to stringent protocols set by NHS Digital and the National Cyber Security Center.
