NHS IT supplier held to ransom by hackers
Major NHS IT provider, Advanced, has confirmed it suffered a ransomware attack which may take up to a month to fully recover from. The Birmingham-based firm, which provides digital services such as patient check-in and the NHS 111 service, would not disclose whether NHS data was stolen, or if it was in negotiations with the hackers. The NHS has reassured the public that disruptions are minimal, and it’s working with the National Cyber Security Centre to understand the impact.
