NHS misses cancer treatment targets

Reports suggest that the NHS has repeatedly failed to meet its target for the treatment of cancer patients in England. The NHS initiative stipulates that 85% of patients should commence treatment within 62 days of GP referrals for suspected cancer. Reports reveal that while strides have been made, including the two-week target for consultations with specialists, 5,500 cancer sufferers did not receive treatment within 62 days during the period July-September 2014.
