‘Hero’ hacker who stopped NHS cyber attack charged over banking bug

British computer expert Marcus Hutchins has been charged in the US in relation to designing malware that can acquire banking details. Hutchins, who helped shut down a large-scale cyberattack in 2017, has been charged with creating and distributing malware, known as Kronos. He is also accused of selling the harmful code due to financial debt. Hutchins and his legal counsel deny the charges.
