Minister blames North Korea for NHS cyber attack

The UK Security Minister, Ben Wallace, said the UK government strongly believes North Korea was to blame for the WannaCry cyber attack on the NHS in May. Wallace also suggested the attack might have been motivated by an attempt by North Korea to access foreign funds. He said the malware hit 81 health trusts across England and almost 600 GP surgeries primarily running Windows 7, and caused the cancellation of almost 19,500 medical appointments.
