NHS cyber-attack: Amber Rudd says lessons must be learnt

The NHS “must learn” from Friday’s cyber-attack and upgrade its IT systems, the UK’s home secretary Amber Rudd has said. Cybersecurity experts are currently “working round the clock” to restore NHS systems. Although the NHS has been crippled by a ransomware program that demands payment to unlock patient data, no evidence has been found of patient data breaches. Tens of thousands of computers in 99 countries worldwide have been infected, but the ransomware has had minimal effect on businesses so far.
