Royal Edinburgh NHS Lothian staff member suspended after illegally accessed patient records

An NHS Lothian employee has been suspended after illegally accessing about 200 patient records, with the data including appointment details, conditions, illnesses and letters written by health professionals. The suspected breach was identified during a routine audit of NHS Lothian’s TRAK administration system and has been reported to the police and the Information Commissioner’s Office. Affected patients have been notified and an investigation initiated.
