Oxford University Hospitals trust fined for breaching same-sex ward guidelines

Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) NHS Foundation Trust was fined £18,250 for placing 73 patients in mixed-sex wards for a total of 73 days between April and July. Department of Health rules state that institutions providing NHS-funded care should not place patients in mixed-sex accommodation unless it is in the patient’s best interest or their personal choice. Hospitals are required to report such instances.
