Health Department told to ‘get its act together’ after NHS hack report exposes basic IT security failings | The Independent
The UK’s Department of Health has been told to “get its act together” in an official report into the WannaCry cyber attack, which could have been prevented with “basic IT security”. The report found every National Health Service (NHS) organisation which was attacked could have taken simple actions to protect itself. The WannaCry attack affected at least 81 English health trusts and led to a cancellation of roughly 19,494 medical appointments, including 139 potential cancer referrals.
