WannaCry virus return: Honda is forced to temporarily shut one of its plants due to the virus
The Wanna Decryptor, or WannaCry ransomware, used in the recent attack on the UK’s NHS was spread through the Windows Server Message Block SMB protocol, not by employees clicking on a dodgy link in an email, according to researchers from Proofpoint, IBM, and Symantec. The attacked caused minimal damage to the NHS, after security expert Marcus Hutchins inadvertently activated the malware’s “kill switch”. Russian president Vladimir Putin has denied his country’s involvement in the attack.
