Ministers are poised to blame China for huge cyberattack on 40million Brits’ personal details and ‘impersonating’ MPs

UK Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden is expected to accuse China of cyberattacks on the country’s elections watchdog and MPs, which accessed the personal information of 40 million individuals. Chinese officials may face sanctions in coordination with Western countries. Critics feel the government’s response is slow and inadequate. Mr Dowden is set to link China to last year’s Electoral Commission attack, in which hostile actors breached its systems.
