Cyberattackers Target the Latin American Health Care Sector

Cyberattacks on the healthcare sector in Latin America pose a growing risk due to the high-value data handled by the sector. IBM’s Security X-Force Threat Intelligence 2023 report concludes that ransomware is the leading form of attack, accounting for 32% of cases. The most common access points for attacks are exploitation of public-facing applications, abuse of valid accounts, and exploiting remote services. To mitigate risks, IBM recommends implementing incident response plans, technology governance, and monitoring IT infrastructure, amongst others.
