Patient data held by hacker group after cyber attack, health board confirms

A hacker group has obtained private patient data in a cyber attack on the NHS Dumfries and Galloway health board, Scotland. While the group alleges to hold 3TB of data from NHS Scotland, the Scottish government states the incident has only involved one health board. The health board confirmed the authenticity of a “proof pack” of data posted by the group. The board has assured the public that patient services have not been impacted and those affected will be contacted. The situation is under police investigation.
