UK prime minister: Ransomware attack is global
A cyberattack initially aimed at the UK’s National Health Service has expanded to target up to 74 countries, Prime Minister Theresa May has said. The ransomware attack was reported on 12 May and crippled computer systems, leading to cancelled operations and delaying ambulances. NHS Digital said at least 16 organisations reported being affected by the “Wanna Decryptor” malware, but there was currently no evidence that patient data had been accessed.
