AT&T acknowledges data breach affecting 51 million people
AT&T, a leading US wireless services provider, confirmed a cyber security breach compromising over 51 million people’s data, ranging from names and addresses to social security numbers. The data exposed on the dark web reportedly dates back to 2019 or earlier, albeit without financial information. Response measures included notification letters to customers, offering free credit monitoring, identity theft services and vigilant monitoring, while facing several class-action lawsuits for their handling of the breach.
