AHA rebuts OCR’s attempt to revise online tracking rules

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has objected to updated rules from the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) that restrict the use of online tracking tools to capture IP addresses on public webpages. The AHA argues that OCR’s rules are overbroad, excessively restrictive, and inhibit healthcare providers from sharing crucial information with communities. Meanwhile, lawsuits in Massachusetts are examining if this use of tracking tools violates the state’s 1968 Wiretap Act.
