NHS Dumfries and Galloway apologises for ‘anxiety’ following major cyber attack

NHS Dumfries and Galloway has apologised for a significant cyberattack earlier this year, admitting a large amount of both patient and staff data was accessed. Expected impacts such as cancelations did not eventuate. However, the attack resulted in changes to staff working arrangements and access to IT systems. The organisation, with advice from National Cyber Security Centre, is working to prevent future attacks. Public interaction so far has been minimal with no identified relations to the attacks.
