Cyber expert urges against ‘panic’ over NHS data leak

Ciaran Martin, former head of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, has downplayed the risk to the public following a cyber attack on a Scottish health board that saw thousands of patient records posted on the dark web. Martin suggested it is unusual for such breaches to result in direct harm, even in cases involving sensitive clinical and financial information. He advised people in Dumfries and Galloway, where the hack took place, to remain vigilant.
