FBI spotlights cybersecurity risks of outdated medical devices

The FBI has released a report highlighting the cybersecurity vulnerabilities within medical devices due to outdated software and insufficient security features, which could be exploited to impact patient health and safety and compromise data confidentiality. The report recommends strategies to better secure devices and increase employee awareness of risks. The FBI found an average of 6.2 vulnerabilities per medical device and that 40% of devices at the end-of-life stage lack sufficient security patches or upgrades.
