Firms must do more to combat threat of cyber attacks, data regulator warns

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) reported that companies are not taking sufficient steps to prevent cybersecurity attacks, despite an increase in incidents. The ICO identified over 3,000 cyber breaches in 2023, particularly in the finance, retail, and education sectors. It urges businesses to implement foundational controls to protect public personal information and has released a report giving advice about common security errors.
