Cyber expert urges against ‘panic’ over NHS data leak

The ex-head of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, Ciaran Martin, urges calm after a ransomware group dumped an estimated 3TB of data from NHS Dumfries and Galloway on the dark web. Martin stated it’s rare for such breaches to result in harm to the public, citing a similar breach in Australia where little direct harm occurred. NHS Dumfries and Galloway staff have been offered additional insurance against the potential for theft and fraud.
