Sensitive records office data accessed in cyber attack on health board

A cyber attack on the NHS Dumfries and Galloway IT network in March 2024 compromised National Records of Scotland (NRS) data, including sensitive details of fewer than 50 people and information from birth, death, and marriage registers. The NRS and local authorities are investigating the incident, and a hotline has been established for public inquiries and reports of suspicious activity related to the breach.
