Critical incident declared as cyber attack affects major London hospitals

Major London hospitals have declared a critical incident following a cyber attack on pathology services provider, Synnovis. The attack has significantly impacted services, leading to cancellation of operations and loss of blood transfusions. Synnovis, formed from a partnership including Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation, has reported the incident to law enforcement and the Information Commissioner. NHS officials are working with the National Cyber Security Centre to understand the ransomware attack’s severity.
