Coronavirus: UK confirms plan for its own contact tracing app
The UK health secretary Matt Hancock has announced plans for an app, developed by digital innovation unit NHSX, which will warn users if they have been near to someone believed to be infected with Covid-19. The health service will work with tech firms to roll out the app, testing a pre-version of the software in the north of England next week. While use will be voluntary, it is believed that more than 50% of the population must use the app for it to be truly effective.
