Critical incident declared as cyber attack affects major London hospitals

A cyber attack on Synnovis, a pathology service provider to GP surgeries and large hospitals in London, has affected procedures, operations and blood transfusions. The ransomware attack has impacted all the company’s IT systems, forcing some services to be cancelled or redirected. Significant disruption has been experienced at King’s College Hospital, Guy’s Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, the Royal Brompton and the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. NHS England stated that swift investigation and recovery work is in progress with the National Cyber Security Centre.
