Appeal for O-type blood donors after cyber attack affected London hospitals
NHS Blood and Transplant is urging type O blood donors to give blood, following a cyberattack on pathology firm Synnovis, thought to be the work of Russian criminal group Qilin. The attack meant London hospitals, among them King’s College, Guy’s and St Thomas’, had to cancel operations and were unable to carry out blood transfusions. The hospitals are unable to match patients’ blood types as regularly, leading to a reliance on type O.
