Bitdefender makes MDR services free to NHS bodies hit by Qilin

Cybersecurity company Bitdefender is offering its Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service free to NHS organisations in South London impacted by a suspected Qilin ransomware attack on Synnovis, a pathology lab partner. The attack forced two NHS Foundation Trusts to cancel procedures with blood testing significantly affected, while other NHS services and GP surgeries also face disruption. Bitdefender, which previously helped Romanian hospitals following a 2024 ransomware incident, aims to reduce the risk of further attacks. NHS England has deployed a cyber incident response team to mitigate the attack’s impact.
