NHS launches urgent appeal for specific type of blood after major hospitals targeted in cyberattack

The NHS has made an urgent appeal for blood donations, particularly from those with type O blood, after a cyberattack on London hospitals forced cancellation of procedures and transfusions. The attack by Russian hackers targeted pathology partner Synnovis, causing significant disruption. NHS Blood and Transplant subsequently asked O-positive and O-negative donors to book appointments at any of the 25 NHS donor centres in London.
