The NHS urgently needs O Positive and O Negative blood donors following a cyber attack last week which has affected hospitals’ ability to match patients’ blood at the usual frequency. Due to this, there has been an increase in the use of O type blood, creating a demand for more units than usual. There are currently 13,000 appointments available nationally this week in NHS Blood Donor Centres and 3,400 in London alone.
